Koray Aldemir did it! The 31-year-old German poker prodigy has won the 2021 WSOP Main Event for $8,000,000 beating George Holmes from the USA heads-up. UK player Jack Oliver finished in 3rd. It’s the second time in a row that the live version of the WSOP Main Event was won by a German poker player after Hossein Ensan in 2019. Watch the Final Table and the last hand below!

Koray Aldemir wins 2021 WSOP Main Event
Koray Aldemir from Germany is the new Poker World Champion. Aldemir started Day 2 of the 2021 WSOP Main Event as massive chip leader and lived up to the expectations to be the huge favourite.
Koray was rewarded with an incredible $8,000,000 and has now cracked the magical $2o-Million-Mark in live tournament winnings catapulting him to 4th place in the Germany All Time Money List right behind his buddies Fedor Holz, Christoph Vogelsang and Rainer Kempe.
Jack Oliver busts in 3rd place for $3,000,000
Jack Oliver started the day second in chips, but his stack dwindled down in the first three hours of play making him the short stack.
With 18 big blinds Jack Oliver shoved All-In for in the small blind with and George Holmes made the call with in the big blind.
Oliver was a slight favourite to double up, but the Jack on the turn ended his great deep run in 3rd place for $3,000,000.

Epic Heads-Up with George Holmes fighting back!
As you can see from above, Aldemir entered heads-up play with a 2 to 1 chip lead and most experts thought it will be over quick, but wrong George Holmes showed heart and put up a big fight.
Holmes even managed to take over the chip lead, when he got paid with a full house. After that the lead went back and forth and it was an even fight until the final hand:

This massive pot sealed the deal as Koray Aldemir had George Holmes covered by only ten million.
“He was really, really tough”
Koray Aldemir gave amateur player George Holmes a lot of credit in the winner interview:
“He was really, really tough. I didn’t expect that at first, but he played great. He put us in spots, not only against me, but against the other players. He made good bluffs, made good folds. I had the chip lead to start with and he grinded me down. Then I had to fight really hard to beat him.”
