Phil Galfond has announced his intention to get into the poker content game. The Run It Once founder said he had been thinking about this move for a long time but for various reasons never pulled the trigger.
Hey, everyone. I just launched a YouTube channel!
Here’s a little background on how and why, and what you can expect to see from me.
🧵 A Thread
— Phil Galfond (@PhilGalfond) September 25, 2021
In a long Twitter thread, Galfond details the usual excuses of a businessman with a family: a lack of time and unable to commit to consistency.
Strangely, it was actually his return to the virtual felt as a player that forced him to become more efficient with his time.
“This mostly involved getting better at delegating & being okay with my best 10-min decision instead of my best 2-hour decision.”
Phil Galfond Worries what the Poker Community Thinks
Those who have followed Phil Galfond’s career since the beginning will be aware of his reputation as a man with integrity. This was highlighted with how the community reacted to his public planning of his Run It Once poker platform.
In the Twitter thread he wrote about fears of judgement and failure, and explained that he suffers from these more than most people.
“Truth is, I care what each and every one of you thinks of me a lot more than I should! I’ve been working on that, but it’s slow going.”
He also mentions that his strive for perfection would have before left him spending 25 hours on each video.
What to Expect from the Phil Glafond Youtube Channel?
Writing about what we can expect in the future, Phil Galfond said:
“I’ve planned & recorded content ranging from beginner & 10 minutes long to 2.5hr podcasts w/ fellow pros. I aim to release 1 vid/week for the time being. I’d love to increase that frequency, but I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew, which I have a habit of doing!”
In the first video, seen above, he aimed to speak to a target audience of “all skill levels”. But as for the future what he does will depend on feedback from the wider community.
It would make sense that this will be more aimed at casual players and not those who have already spent many months studying material on his Run It Once coaching platform.
We look forward to seeing what Phil Galfond can come up with. We’re sure that he wouldn’t enter the poker content space without having ideas to bring something original to the table.
What that is exactly, we just don’t know, but can’t wait to see.
