Tony Dunst has triggered Mike Matusow by telling him that there’s no way he can beat the high stakes any longer. The man known as “The Mouth” has been under fire recently for overcharging markup in high stakes tournaments that most say he is not profitable in.
You’re a nice guy and I’ve always liked you Mike, I just don’t think you’re beating high stakes anymore. Nothing personal 🤷♂️

Now, it looks like he’s struggling to deal with all the criticism coming his way.
Tony Dunst Calls Mike Matusow a Losing Player at the High Stakes
Hey @WPT do you guys feel it’s good for your brand to have @tonydunsttv 1of your star announcers calling out other poker players saying how bad they are? Could you Imagine Al Michaels telling everyone that Tua is trash qb and should be out of NFL? He’d be fired on spot! #facts

Tony Dunst was quick to avoid being too heavy on Matusow, telling him that he’s always been a fan.
“Never said you were bad, just that you’re not winning at 10k+ buy-ins.”
Mike Matusow Flips out over High Stakes Criticism
Mike Matusow is generally known as a guy who is all about freedom of speech and showing respect about other people’s opinions. But it only took a negative view at the level of his poker skills to turn that on his head.
Just because Tony Dunst reckons he’s not a part of the poker elite any longer Matusow flipped out and even contacted the WPT to complain, and maybe even get them to fire Dunst from his commentator role.
That’s thing is you’ve never played 1 hand with me so how can you spew nonsense you’ve never even seen me play 1 hand of any game in your life! I’ve always rooted for you understand you have big platform now & should watch things you say! Don’t try and hurt poker try and help it! https://t.co/3a3E1YyaGo

It’s quite ridiculous for Matusow to claim that Dunst never saw him play a single hand when he’s one of the most televised players of all-time.
It also didn’t take long before the memes started flying in to ridicule Mike Matusow.

Doug Polk Sets Mike Matusow Straight
Doug Polk saw the thread and chimed in with his own straightforward opinion which kind of ended the argument.
“Bro its gambling, the entire game is people disagreeing about who is winning. Tony can speak his mind and bet against you, thats actually one of the best parts about poker.”
All of this bickering proves that poker will never die. There will always be people who had success in a different era and refuse to believe that they are no longer the player they once were.
We should consider ourselves lucky that there is always a stream of new players who fit this pattern in our game.
