Top 3 most costly Tweets in poker history
Twitter has a long history of people tweeting things that they later come to regret. Poker is no different. In fact, the choice is almost endless as we look through what some of what poker royalty had to say in recent history that ended up costing them a fortune in one way or another.
Here are our top three picks for the most costly tweets in poker history.
#3 Phil Galfond and His Slide
A decade ago, Phil Galfond decided to sell his New York apartment in the wake of Black Friday as he upped sticks and moved to Vancouver, Canada.
The abode, while extremely nice, wasn’t out of the ordinary except for one detail—a massive slide that was installed for the inhabitants to quickly slip down to the bottom floor.
Does anyone want to buy a slide?

Lord knows how much Phil Galfond paid to have this installed, but the $15,000 he was asking for must have been a bargain. We wonder where the poker “antique” is right now.
#2 Wiktor “limitless” Malinowski Challenging the World
In August 2020, Wiktor “limitless” Malinowski made a brave challenge to take on anybody in the world in a high stakes heads-up match. Featuring on the Joey Ingram podcast, the Pole brazenly told how he would beat anybody.
The conversation then moved onto German tournament star Fedor Holz, who was immediately dismissed as incapable of mounting a challenge. “limitless” told how he would easily beat him even if he was drunk.
Hello champ! WP! so are we gonna play some hu? Ill offer you 3bb/100 extra or 1k usd per hour and ill be drunk. for 2tbls 200 400 or 500 1000+. #CrownUpGuy

3bb/100 or $1,000 per hour handicap “limitless” offered, which, of course, all now looks a bit embarrassing.
After losing the Face-Off Challenge for almost $100,000, “limitless” is also stuck $300,000 against “Stefan11222”. Somehow, we expect that he is wishing he had never tweeted this challenge to the world.
#1 Daniel Negreanu and the High Stakes Feud
The winner for the most costly tweet in poker history has to be Daniel Negreanu’s acceptance of the match against Doug Polk.

If this will make you feel better and give you some type of closure from your multi year obsession with me.

After being constantly trolled on social media for years, Doug Polk finally managed to get him to bite and accept a match on his turf. By the end of the High Stakes Feud Daniel Negreanu was down $1,201,807 and Polk was heading back into retirement.
It’s not as if this was any kind of a surprise to the poker community, but the numbers are still shocking. This was a major chunk of change for anybody to lose, even if the growing respect for how much he raised his level throughout the match softened the blow.
