Max Kruse representing Team Germany at the tables
German football star Max Kruse has been picked to represent his country at the upcoming World Championship of Amateur Poker, the two-time WSOP final tablist hoping to help his teammates to the gold medal.
The 32-year-old Union Berlin forward has already represented his country on the football field and has starred for clubs such as Werder Bremen, St Pauli, Borussia Moenchengladbach, Wolfsburg, and Fenerbahçe during a long and successful career.
During that time he has scored 114 club goals and 14 on his national appearances, the best of them seen in the video below…
Now, having been picked by Team Germany’s WCOAP captain, Clément Hayer, he will celebrate a unique double national honor on the green felt. The Team Germany line-up, below…

The team tournament is one of 16 WCOAP events being held on partypoker, the festival kicking off on January 23rd and running until February 7th with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 to $530.
VIP Grinders are running a competition that will see 3 lucky winners’ bag $109 seats to the $150k GTD Main Event, with a world title on the line to go with huge cash prizes!
Max Kruse is an excellent poker player and has made 2 WSOP final tables
Max Kruse’s inclusion in the strong German team is not a complete surprise, however, the Reinbek-born poker fanatic having more than $130,000 in live tournament cashes to his name.
His first big cash, back in 2014, was an excellent 3rd spot worth $36,494 in the $1500 buy-in No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball tournament in Vegas at the World Series of Poker.
About the upcoming WCOAP
He bagged another final table and eventual 4th place finish worth $28,740 three years later in the same event, and cashed three times last year in the first-ever online WSOP.
Now he will be tasked with bringing in some crucial points for the German team in a two-day, Sit and Go format team event, with $1,000, WCOAP Bracelets, and APAT Gold Medals up for grabs.
The six-round event sees teams scoring from 15 points for 1st all the way down to 1 point for 10th place, the totals racked up over the two days’ play to decide the winners and podium finishers.
You might not have made one of the ten teams competing in the WCOAP, but you can still join in the action by winning one of $3109 tickets to the $150,000 GTD World Championship of Amateur Poker Main Event.
As the name implies, the World Championship of Amateur Poker (APAT) is one of the biggest tournaments for recreational and amateur poker players. It, therefore, offers a soft field and amazing value!
