New Lineup for High Stakes Poker Season 8 Episode 6
We had a significant change of lineup before the start of High Stakes Poker Season 8 Episode 6. Bryn Kenney, Nick Petrangelo, Jason Koon, Brandon Steven and Lynne Ji all left and were replaced by Michael Schwimer, Damien LeForbes, Sean Perry and John Andress.
- Tom “durrrr” Dwan
- Rick Salomon
- JRB
- Michael Schwimer
- Damien LeForbes
- Sean Perry
- John Andress
They are playing NL$400/$800 6-max with a straddle and minimum buy-in of $200,000.
Set vs. Flush – Rick Salomon vs. JRB: $201,200 Pot
JRB finds Pocket Kings in the Highjack and raises to $3,000 and Rick Salomon makes a loose call with 9♣5♣ in the small blind. Pot Size: $7,600
A♣8♥K♣ is an action flop as JRB has middle set and Rick the flush draw. Bellande makes a small bet of $2,000 into $7,600 and Salomon calls. Pot Size: $13,600
The 7♣ on the turn makes Rick the flush. He checks and JRB bets $9,000 and gets check-raised to $29,000. Bellande calls. Pot Size: $71,600
The 2♠ is a blank and Salomon puts Bellande All-in for his remaining $64,800, which is a little bit less than potsize. Bellande tanks for 30 seconds, saying “I can beat Aces and Sevens Rick” before calling.
Rick gives his standard reply: “I got it” and collects a massive $201,200 pot.
Two Pair vs. Top Pair – Rick Salomon vs. Sean Perry: $268,000 Pot
The biggest pot of High Stakes Poker Season 8 Episode 6 was played between Rick Salomon and Sean Perry.
Tom Dwan opens from UTG+2 with J♣T♥ to $7,000 and gets three callers. Two of them being Rick Salomon with A♥7♦ and Sean Perry with A♦10♦ and just like that there are $28,600 in the pot preflop.
The flop comes A♣K♠7♣. Tom Dwan makes a continuation bet of $15,000, Perry calls and Salomon once again check-raises to $65,000. Dwan folds, but Perry surprisingly announces All-in for $112,000 and gets snap-called. Pot Size: $268,000
A questionable play by Sean Perry, if not to say a mistake. He probably puts Salomon on a draw and yes, Rick can play a draw like that, but if he would have paid attention to the huge hand against JRB, which happened just before or to other TV appearances of Rick Salomon, he would have noted that he likes to check-raise with big hands on the flop.
They decide to run it twice and here are the two boards:
Sean Perry gets very lucky by chopping it up as he only had 22% equity, when the money went in.
Michael Schwimer bluffs Tom Dwan with 43o in a $109,600 pot!
The best bluff of last night’s episode was run by Michael Schwimer against non less than the great Tom Dwan!
Dwan raises to $11,000 with K♦K♣ and Schwimer makes a very loose call with 4♦3♣ on the button. Everybody else folds. Pot Size: $23,400
The flop of J♠A♣9♠ is not what you want to see, when you have Pocket Kings. Tom therefore checks in order to control the size of the pot and Michael takes an $11,000 stab at the pot with the intention to end the hand right here, but Dwan calls. Pot Size: $45,400
The 5♣ on the turn doesn’t changes much except for the fact that Schwimer picked up a bit of equity with his gutshot.
Tom checks a second time and Schwimer decides to go for it by overbet shoving All-in for $64,200, which is almost 1.5 x pot. This is a very tough spot for Dwan and he goes deep into the tank. Tom ultimately folds and Michael shows him 43o for the stone cold bluff!
Michael Schwimer showing big balls by taking on one of the best cash game players in the world and outplaying him. Legendary bluff!
