Watford Football Club star Andre Gray is in hot water after breaking UK COVID-19 rules by organising a poker party. The private poker game brazenly flouted government precautions during the nationwide lockdown.
Andre Gray Flouts COVID Rules
This is far from the first story we’ve seen of this type during 2020. There has been a high number of celebrities getting caught out. The usual situation is that they simply apologise and pay any fine. Of course the fine is irrelevant for rich people.
Andre Gray shares a £5 million mansion in Surrey, England, with his pop star girlfriend Leigh-Anne Pinnock, from the group Little Mix. According to COVID regulations nobody else except these two should have set foot inside the home until the lockdown was over.
British newspaper The Sun received a video showing Gray serving six friends from behind a bar he installed into his games room. We can also clearly see the poker table with plenty of chips on display.
Andre Gray Shows the Ultimate Arrogance
The Sun’s confidential source told them,
“He was well aware that you’re not allowed friends round for a social in light of what’s going on – but he did it anyway.”
“Leigh-Anne was away working with Little Mix so he thought it would be a good idea to get the boys round for a gambling session.”
“It stinks of arrogance when you think of what the rest of the country is having to go through.”
Highly embarrassing for the football star to be caught out like this. But he was quick to apologise. Last weekend he told the press,
“On Saturday evening I hosted a small gathering at my home. In hindsight, it was incredibly naïve to do so and is deeply regrettable. I would like to wholeheartedly apologise.”
Not the First Time Either
Amazingly, this isn’t the first time Gray has broken COVID rules put in place to protect the population. Back in June he hosted a birthday party in the very same mansion.
It’s one thing to assume that you won’t cause much of a problem in the general population if you break the rules, and quite another if you spread the virus around a major football team that pays your wages.
That first breach cost Gray his place in the team, so we can expect the same results from this latest transgression.
Local police heard the news of Gray’s apology to the media and did their own investigation. Ultimately Gray was handed a pathetic £200 fine.
There have been quite a few private poker games breaking COVID rules around the world this year. We reported last week how a game for off-duty oil workers in Calgary led to a family receiving threats after somebody snitched to the police.
