Mercurial high stakes poker star Tom Dwan has tweeted how he lost $1,000,000 betting on the recent UFC 250. Dwan, or durrrr, as he is commonly known as, dumped the huge sum wagering on the Cody Garbrandt vs Raphael Assuncao bout.
Hey @dc_mma @joerogan it doesn’t really count unless you bet a mil on the dog 🤑

Dwan Has No Respect for Money
Nobody seems to know if Dwan is a regular sports bettor. While he is no stranger to playing poker for huge sums he isn’t known as a big fight fan.
He also isn’t much of a social media fan these days but popped up randomly to tell his fans and Joe Rogan that he went for the underdog and lost.
Cody Garbrandt was the former champion of the bantamweight division who won his title as an undefeated fighter. The streak didn’t last long though, as he was beaten in his very next fight starting a three-fight losing run.
Dwan clearly thinks that Garbrandt no longer has what it takes and he bet on Brazilian Assuncao to pick up the victory.
One wonders just how sick he was feeling after witnessing the sickening uppercut that sent Assuncao reeling onto the canvas at the end of round two.
I was on the other side… but that was still pretty sick by Garbrandt. #ufc250 😓

What About Dwan’s Challenge?
Most readers will be thinking about the unfinished “durrrr Challenge” with Jungleman. Starting a decade ago, the pair have yet to complete the required number of hands.
Dwan is the one that everyone is blaming for this because Jungleman clearly wants to crack on and finish. Dwan is also trailing heavily and is a massive underdog at this stage to the tune of $1.2 million.
The replies on Twitter were quick to mention all of this. For a start if Dwan can afford such a ridiculous wager then why isn’t he fulfilling his obligations with Jungleman?

One obvious reason is that Dwan meant Hong Kong dollars. This would make sense, but even so, that would still be a US$129,000 loss. Not quite the $1.5 million penalty that he would have to hand over to Jungleman if he completes and loses his own challenge.
Dwan spends most of his time in Asia grinding the high stakes cash games in Macau and other hotspots in the region.
For this reason there is no excuse for not being able to get onto an online real money poker account somewhere.
If he has time to spend grinding short deck texas holdem poker then he can get this done.
This whole episode has really embarrassed the poker community which thrives on the high stakes players being straight up with deals such as this.
We look forward to seeing if Dwan responds to the messages from his fans. Everyone would love to see if the pair can reconcile before Jungleman retreats from the professional lifestyle for good.
