If you are looking for an argument, Twitter is the place to go. For poker players in 2019, it was the main battleground for airing personal grievances and dissing rivals. Here are our top 5 Twitter poker fights of 2019.
Biggest Twitter poker fights 2019 – Negreanu’s popularity contests prove…unpopular
It probably won’t come as any surprise that Daniel Negreanu features heavily in the Twitter war stakes.
The Canadian is one of the most high-profile poker pros on Twitter and seems to relish public battles, his first appearance on this list almost designed to provoke one. It didn’t take long to appear…
Fun for who? Tons of people have pointed out this is dumb, unfair & could be hurtful to those unwillingly involved.

The online queen of poker wasn’t the only one unimpressed by Kid Poker’s contest. Erik Seidel tweeted: ‘Not sure anything is being achieved here’ while others were even less enamored…
Fun for him. He doesn’t care if it’s hurtful. The sheer amount of votes proves that people apparently support him and like the polls? I don’t.

Doug Polk, another of Twitter’s most pugnacious characters and a long-time foe of DNegs, joined in the ‘fun’…
I just want to thank Daniel Negreanu for being brave enough to stand up and do the right thing, which apparently is nonstop tweeting popularity contests about your friends to 471,000 people every few hours.

Biggest Twitter poker fights 2019 – Deeb faces down Kenney in bankroll beef
We’ll be back with Negreanu and Polk shortly, but if you could choose one each of the most likely and unlikely to indulge in Twtterfisticuffs, you’d have our next story…
Bryn Kenney vaulted to the top of the winningest tournament player of all-time list with his $20million cash at Triton’s London stop, but revealing he had half his net worth on the line seemed to incense Deeb.
This clip is just sad. It’s scary he says he had half his bankroll on his piece of the tourney and then made a ton of massive side bets which I’m guessing equaled or were greater than the amount he had of himself so if he lost and got scooped on bets he couldn’t pay. #freeroll https://t.co/qbGr6ux5So
— shaun deeb (@shaundeeb) October 18, 2019
Kenney was understandably not impressed, but according to Deeb what he did next was the real shocker…
Shocking bryn messages me threatens to fight me next time he sees me and then challenges me to hu 2k4k 8g I accept and ask if I should fly to Vegas right after wsope shocking he then backs down #freeroll
— shaun deeb (@shaundeeb) October 18, 2019
No fisticuffs then, but Jason Koon and Jungleman Dan Cates sided with Kenney, and you can read the full story here.
Polk angers Carrel with secret poker tell
They say that opposites attract, but when it comes to mild-mannered, sensitive soul Charlie Carrel and the brash, bold Doug Polk, nothing could be further from the truth.
Their latest Twitter falling out arose when Polk decided Carrel would make a good target for a ‘secret poker tell’ video, despite the young Englishman having just scooped the Triton £50k title and a whopping £1,321,000 ($1,601,853) in London.
This is a very sick hero call – see if you can spot the obvious tell that Patrik definitely picked up on.

Carrel, who has since left Twitter for less brutal pastures, may still be a fan of Polk’s other videos: ‘He even went after my charity project, Abundance. Weird jab.
Despite the blatant rudeness and hostility he has towards people he doesn’t like, I still am a big fan of him and his channel.’

Biggest Twitter poker fights 2019 – Negreanu unhappy with new job title
Back at Negreanu HQ, there was a new and fiercely critical enemy on Twitter. An anonymous account named ‘Rachel Lees’, and DNegs was the target.
In a now-deleted tweet, Lees shared an essay entitled ‘The Leader of Stupid Inc.’ in which she stated that ‘Daniel does not exhibit any non-stupid qualities’.
A to-and-fro of arguing and blocking and unblocking ensued, with the anonymous poker and business-savvy Lees – unlike many others – free to say whatever she felt without real recriminations…
You are free to respectfully debate issues. I wouldn’t block you for that.
Call me a hypocrite, especially when you are way off base and out of line, and that’s headed towards block status.
It’s up to you what you choose to do with that.

Biggest Twitter fight in 2019 – Deebnamed ‘Puggy Pearson’ of his generation by Negreanu
Choosing a top Twitter poker fight of the year isn’t easy, but Negreanu and Deeb are always likely to be on the shortlist.
This year it was a lengthy and varied bout of verbals emanating from the great mark-up debate of 2019, that saw Deeb sink to a new low – a marriage last-longer prop bet…
You are younger which theoretically means yours should last longer, but you are for sure likely to croak way before either of us so it makes it a fair bet.
— Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) April 28, 2019
Round two saw Negreanu bounce back with some sharp hooks to the body of Deeb, a rat-a-tat volley aimed at Deeb’s honesty.
The words ‘cheat’ and ‘angleshoot’ are some of the harshest blows a player can land on another pro…
I don’t want to ever gamble with you. I don’t trust you. You are by far the biggest angle shooter on the circuit today. The Puggy Pearson of your generation.
I don’t trust you not to angle shoot. Nor do I trust that you won’t cheat.
— Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) April 26, 2019
In a cruel twist of fate, the WSOP Player of the Year title that both ended up chasing sparked a controversy of its own when a counting error saw Negreanu relegated from 1st to 3rd, Deeb also missing out in the runner-up spot as Robert Campbell lifted the title after the recount.
It’s highly likely that 2020 will bring just as many Twitter spats as this year has, and as long as they are not too horrible, we’ll bring you the best of them as they happen.
