Breaking News: Daniel Negreanu Signs with GGPoker

Live tournament legend Daniel Negreanu has signed a deal to represent GGPoker. The Canadian high-stakes crusher dropped the bombshell on Twitter this morning sending shockwaves through the poker community.

Daniel Negreanu Hits a Repeat Performance

This is the biggest signing that a poker room has managed in more than a decade. If the truth be told, the last time we saw a deal as big as this one being announced was 12 years ago when Negreanu partnered up with PokerStars.

For those of you who don’t follow poker industry news all the time, Daniel Negreanu split with PokerStars earlier this year. This was a huge shock after he had supported them through thick and thin.

PokerStars has spent the last few years making unpopular, and also unjustified, changes that the poker community thought was unfair. It was purely taking advantage of what is effectively a monopoly with 70% market share.

Onto New Pastures

Now it looks as if Negreanu had finally had enough and is joining what is one of the fastest growing and exciting poker rooms online today.

GGPoker has taken a different approach to servicing its customers compared to other mainstream sites. The catchy graphics, coupled with a huge range of emoticons, give a totally unique visual experience unseen elsewhere online.

The generous loyalty scheme has also been catching the attention of the poker community. From micro-stakes up to the very highest stakes. Many a household name in the poker community can be found grinding there.

Cutting Edge Software

Negreanu was absolutely beaming about his new employer and the rate of progress they’ve made.

“Their last GGSeries , you’re talking about $50 million in guarantees. Up from $3 million the year before.”

The software, particularly for mobile technology, was another feature he was happy to point out. He said it was,

“…cutting edge, super user-friendly, fun, and engaging.”

One unique point, as far as mainstream poker rooms are concerned anyway, is the staking platform. Much has been made about the staking industry within poker, but this is the first time we have seen it embedded within a software client.

As you might expect it wasn’t all positive news for Negreanu. His announcement video captured him walking down the famous Las Vegas Strip apparently giving some false hope for his US-based fans.

There were quite a number of replies to his tweet asking which US states are eligible to play on GGPoker. Sadly, the answer is none.
