Man walks into Crown Casino with a cool bag full of A$50 notes exchanges it for casino chips
Crown Casino Melbourne, home of the Aussie Millions, is under fire due to a massive money laundering scandal. The video filmed by the Crown CCTV was released by Independent MP David Wilkie, who received it from Crown Casino inspectors turned whistleblowers.
The money laundering scandal, which is said to be of enourmous degree, was revealed through a leaked video, which was filmed by Crown Casino’s very own security cameras and leaked by by three Victorian state gambling inspectors.
It shows a man walking into the Suncity junket room at Crown Casino Melbourne with a cool bag full of A$50 notes.
He opens the bag and starts to pull out one money bundle after another, which is then exchanged for high-value casino chips.
Watch this insane footage from Crown Casino here:
Independent Member for Clark, Andrew Wilkie, who has repeatedly called for a royal commission into the casino, made the video public on his homepage and said:
“For many years we’ve been told of shocking crimes occurring at Crown“
“For many years we’ve been told of shocking crimes occurring at Crown and now we have new footage that supports these claims. This crisis at Crown is multi-national, multi-jurisdictional and multi-agency.“
He also explains that the video was leaked to him by Victorian gambling inspectors who are very frustrated that the commited crimes at Crown are not being investigated at all.
“Anyone can walk in with any amount of money and launder it“
One of the whistleblowers comments in the footage:
“People probably think that everything that goes on is squeaky clean, but in fact it’s fucked. Anyone can walk in with any amount of money and launder it. Nobody really cares. They get to do what they want. They can bring anybody into the casino, they can bring in as much money as they like, nothing is ever said. They prefer to go out and do liquor inspections, which take next to nothing, than do a proper decent investigation because it’s too time consuming.“
David Wilkie then adds:
“The inspectors who have provided these videos say countless millions of dollars are regularly laundered inside Crown. Crown can no longer claim this isn’t happening. This leaked version was filmed using Crown’s own security cameras.”
“A regular occurence at Crown Casino“
One of the whistleblower claims that the same man returned only a couple of weeks later to deposit even more money!
He also explains the procedure in detail, in which the large sums of cash are either put into a bank account or exchanged for the biggest casino chips, which are later cashed in and so the money is quickly cleaned up.
“It’s happening every week. There’s been reports put in on it, but it’s still going on.”
What happens now?
So far Crown Casino has been denying the allegations stating that it has a comprehensive anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing program in place, which is subject to ongoing regulatory supervision by Austrac.
David Wilkie now calls for an independent and Royal Commission into Australia’s casino industry:
“When Victorian gambling inspectors say they don’t trust their bosses and can no longer count on Victoria Police, it is clear we have reached crisis point. The only way forward is to have a truly independent inquiry.“
A Royal Comission is the highest form of inquiry on a matter of public importance. However, it must be supported by government and due to the fact that it costs tens of millions of dollars it is questionable, if it will be approved.
