The full deck format Main Event saw 130 entries, including 52 re-entries at London’s Park Lane Hotel, producing a prize pool of £12.2million. The min. cash would be £192,000, and the top 17 were destined to be in the money.
The planned two days ran into three due to the massive turnout, and by the time they had reached the final table of nine, the likes of Justin Bonomo and Isaac Haxton were already out. Jungleman Dan Cates, however, was on fire…

His final table appearance would be short-lived, however, as both he and many people’s favorite, England’s Stephen Chidwick, ran into Michael Soyza…
💥Double KO by @MichaelSoyza🇲🇾 , whose AQ holds against Jungleman’s 🇺🇸 A3 and Chidwick’s 🇬🇧 A7. What a sweat that was though!

What a time to pick up kings was the first thought when Heath found himself all-in against Phua’s ace-king. There was the distinct possibility that Heath might add a Triton title to his summer WSOP bracelet, but then this happened…
💥 We are HEADS UP! Benjamin Heath 🇬🇧 is eliminated in the #TritonLondon2019 £100k NLH Main Event. It’s between Wai Kin Yong 🇲🇾 and @PaulPhuaPoker🇲🇾, who has the chance to finally win his first title.

Quite possibly the flop of the series and Heath had to settle for 3rd place and £1.35million, leaving Phua to discuss a deal with his young rival. That produced a chop slightly in favor of the elder statesman of Asian poker, but there was £150k and the trophy still to play for.
The title was decided with a typically Triton nerve-wracking final hand, Phua well ahead and only the river outs to dodge for a double-up…
