Doug Polk fires shots in Joey Ingram’s Pokerlife Podcast
Doug Polk was back on Joe Ingram’s podcast last week. As usual, he didn’t hold back.
Ingram did everything to put his guest in a combative mood. He titled the live stream “Doug Polk UNLEASHED” and put Daniel Negreanu’s picture next to Polk in the thumbnail.
Alex Foxen’s Message to Doug Polk
However, who got the best of it from Polk wasn’t Negreanu – it was Alex Foxen.
In June of 2018, Polk made a video discussing whether or not Foxen and his girlfriend, Kristen Bicknell colluded with each other in a tournament. The poker playing couple made it to the final 3 and, as some people allege, were softplaying against each to the detriment of the third player.
Foxen didn’t take kindly to Polk’s speculation and – as Polk revealed in the most recent episode of Joe Ingram’s podcast – actually messaged him.
Doug Polk’s summary of the incident
Polk recalled the strange events as such:
“Oh my fucking god, Alex Foxen, dude. (…) I did a video of him and his girlfriend colluding in a tournament. (…) In the video, (…) I was too nice to him. (…) I used a lot of language that was very on the fence, ‘cause I take that responsibility very seriously. And then, I look at my phone and I get sent this novel from Alex Foxen. (…) It was like, ‘you probably don’t know much about tournaments, but how they work in those spots…’ I’m like, okay, so you’re gonna talk to me like I’m a fucking 3-year-old.”
Doug Polk also went on to claim that Foxen actually threatened him to take down his video but, evidently, he didn’t comply.
He also got really fervent, complaining about how every time he calls somebody out in the poker world for doing something shady, he gets blamed by them, instead of them taking responsibility for their actions.
In his impassioned rant, he brings up Alec Torelli’s chiphiding scandal as an example.
Doug Polk vs. Daniel Negreanu Again
Even though Foxen as the one who got the most of Polk’s venom, “KidPoker” also got a mention.
Ingram asked Polk about Negreanu’s departure from PokerStars.
They agreed that strange that Negreanu has said so little about parting ways with Stars. They also speculate that either the poker room didn’t offer enough money for Negreanu to expand his contract, or they just outright fired him.
As for the reasons, many believe that it was Negreanu’s controversial antics that cost him his job. Think of him posting a picture of his bathing suit bulge on Instagram, or getting into Twitter spats with podcast hosts.
However, Polk thinks it’s a different issue, heavily criticizing PokerStars instead.
“I think it kind of just indicated a shift in the PokerStars strategy away from sponsored pros. You know, if you’re selling people slot machines, do you really need slot grinders that people look up to? No. Slot machines. Come play our slots.”
Other Topics Discussed by Doug Polk and Joe Ingram
Polk and Ingram touched on a wide variety of other topics.
They talked about Polk’s return to the WSOP. He played that the $10K NLHE heads-up event and claims he’s planning on playing the Main Event as well.
However, he made the confession that he no longer cares about winning or losing in poker. He says that when he plays the game nowadays he’s often bored and feels like he shouldn’t be there at all.
They also made a video making prop bet, talked about weight loss and fitness and cryptocurrency.
