Is Maurice Hawkins the WSOPC’s biggest winner AND biggest loser?

Maurice Hawkins bagged a record-tying 19th WSOP Circuit ring last night in Tunica, Mississippi, but was immediately called out yet again for his unpaid debts.

Hawkins’ scoop of the $400 NHL Monster Stack at Horseshoe Tunica casino tied him for most WSOPC wins ever — joining Ari Engel on 19 Circuit rings.

However, the Fort Lauderdale-based pro was soon called out for a long-standing debt to a former backer. Randy Garcia has regularly outed Hawkins but has yet to see more than a token amount of the money he is owed…

While Hawkins was apparently “in Tunica right now explaining to the table how rich he is,” according to one X/Twitter user, Garcia was quick to share his own take on Hawkins’ ‘solvency’ issues.

“Maurice likes to always tell people how rich he is and how much money he makes. However, somehow leaves out the part about his house being foreclosed on, or him trying to get me to buy his watches off him before he took them to the pawn shop.”

He even shared pics purporting to be from Hawkins…

In the eyes of the poker community, the WSOPC’s biggest winner may well be its biggest loser. A quick taste of the comments that post received show just how little respect Hawkins garners among poker fans, despite his achievements at the table.

  • Prob a couple Rolex replicas anyways. There’s no chance they are real
  • Dude’s always been a scumbag
  • If his wife’s watch is a 36mm used he’s getting like 3k from a pawn shop if he’s lucky
  • He has the same line of BS as all of the scum poker players have when it comes to borrowing money/staking. They all talk the same way and read off the same script. It is funny. Rob Peter to Pay Paul always.

Garcia has been trying to get Hawkins to pay what he owes — a court judgment of $115,000 —for more than five years now. However, as we have reported multiple times over the intervening years, the record-equaling WSOPC legend with $6.3million in career earnings has failed to cough up.

“The liar, thief, scammer Maurice said in his interview last year that he doesn’t owe anyone in poker any money and that he owed me $40k but has paid me back $20k. Here is a nice thread of him contradicting himself yet again. Please everyone repost for awareness.”

So far this year, Hawkins has won roughly $300,000, with four tournament victories under his belt, including a $140,752 WSOPC ring win in Baltimore in February.

Last night’s victory was foretold by his son, Hawkins claims. “My son called me completely out of nowhere,” he said of a call before the final table.

“He told me he had a dream I was going to win a lot of money.”

Hawkins added: “He’s in the military, and he never says stuff like that. But this time, he just said it. And then it happened.”

Randy Garcia is probably hoping for just such a call from Hawkins to settle his debt, but it may be a long wait – it’s now 5 years and counting.
