Russia’s Artur Martirosian bagged an incredible 12th GGMillion$ SHR title last night, breaking through the $10million winnings barrier for that one tournament alone.
This week’s $10k SHR on GGPoker attracted 201 entries making the maths easy – $2,010,000 in the prizepool and six-figure payouts for the top six finishers.
By the time Tuesday evening’s final table came round, a mix of absolute crushers and a couple of relative unknowns were in the mix. Leading the way was Lebanese-born pro, Ramon “Beriuzy” Chamos with a massive 118BB stack, double that of his nearest rival.
It was “Beriuzy” who struck the first blow, a good hour into play, the pic below showing the sweat with huge money on the line…
The 10♥ wasn’t one of those outs and Santos bowed out in 9th spot for a healthy $50,798. The anonymous “Parox” was next to fall, losing a race to Martirosian, who then KO’d Lasouskii.
Now in the six-figure payday realm, it took an hour for our next bustout and it was Adrian Mateos who bit the dust, a bad beat accounting for the last of his chips…
Mateos: A♥ K♠
Martirosian: A♦ 6♦
Flop: J♦ 6♠ Q♣
Turn: J♥
River: 9♠
It may have cost Martirosian three buy-ins to make it this far, but it was proving its worth, and his Q♠ Q♣ was enough to see off Derzhypilskyi’s A♠ Q♦
The livestream’s best mystery hand of the evening saw Martirosian face off with Beriuzy…
Martirosian: ??
Beriuzy: A♠ 9♠
Martirosian’s button raise was called by Beriuzy in the small blind…
Flop: 8♠ 6♠ Q♠
Check, bet, call followed, the pot now 1million and Beriuzy with 3million behind, Martirosian having him well covered with 10million chips.
Turn: Q♦
Beriuzy bet out small and must have been happy with the river card…
River: 2♣
But now Beriuzy’s 20% bet was met by an all-in for his tournament life. There’s no way he could fold but he was sickened when Martirosian’s hand was flipped over…
Martirosian: 2♠ 2♥
When it’s your day, it’s your day, and it continued when he found a hand at the same time as Gerasimov…
What followed was a gripping hour-long heads-up battle, Kiat Lee battling gamely to narrow Martirosian’s lead on several occasions, but he could never quite get back on level terms. The final hand was standard…
Martirosian: A♥ 7♠
Lee: K♥ Q♣
Flop: 2♠ J♥ 4♦
Turn: 4♥
River: 5♥
..and that gave Martirosian his incredible 12th GGMillion$ title, took him through the $10million barrier for that event alone, and took him over $43million in total GG Poker winnings.
