GGPoker and GTO Wizard have teamed up to battle the poker cheats, an announcement this week outlining their goal to ensure poker remains “individual vs. individual, not individual vs. machine”.
The ‘Fair Play Partnership’ was revealed just days after GGPoker banned 31 accounts for “violating fair play rules”. GGPoker’s plan is not only to outsmart those who misuse Real-Time Assistance (RTA) tools, including GTO Wizard, but also to allay suspicions and fears that drive players away from the game.
GGPoker explained this week:
“At GGPoker, we believe in a poker ecosystem where skill and strategy determine success—not unfair advantages. Poker should be individual vs. individual, not individual vs. machine.”
The industry-leading site revealed: “To better ensure fair play for all, we are now collaborating with GTO Wizard to strengthen our security efforts further.”
Crackdown on Poker Cheats
Last week it was announced that 31 accounts had been targeted using the new approach. GGPoker took “decisive action against accounts that violated our fair play rules by utilizing “GTO Wizard’s game integrity services”.
After identifying “accounts that exhibited suspiciously high usage of GTO Wizard during live play”, the site took immediate action.
“In collaboration with @GTOWizard, we have blocked 31 player accounts for violating our fair play rules. Together, we are continuously strengthening our security measures to protect the integrity of the game.”
RTA vs Fair Play Wizards
For those who haven’t used or read up on the modern technology used by pros and regs to improve, GTO Wizard and similar tools allow players to see how a computer would handle situations.
Although developed as a training tool, it can be used nefariously to provide Real-Time Assistance (RTA) to players during actual play. Almost all poker sites have T&C’s that prohibit such use but cheats rarely care about the rules.
To counter this, a “Fair Play Check” can be implemented to check whether specific hands have been checked with the computer at the time the hand was actually played.
“GTO Wizard’s Fair Play Check allows users to check if a specific board was solved using GTO Wizard within a chosen time frame,” explained GGPoker in their partnership announcement. “If it was, the tool reveals the exact time it happened, helping to detect potential unfair play.”
“Alongside our collaboration with GTO Wizard, this tool is another step toward safeguarding poker’s integrity. By continuously strengthening security measures and leveraging cutting-edge detection methods, we are reinforcing a level playing field where skill and strategy—not external assistance—determine success.”
GGPoker have joined a select group of sites publicly partnering with GTOWizard, alongside WPT Global, Winning Poker Network (WPN), and Playtech’s iPoker network.
Online Bans = Live Bans?
One of the biggest talking points this week arose when GGPoker ambassador Fedor Holz hinted that online bans may be extended to live play, including GGPoker’s World Series of Poker this summer.
“That’s the plan, and that’s what will happen”, said Holz in reference to Patrick Leonard’s question.

That spurred Doug Polk into producing his own list of would-be WSOP banhammer ‘victims’, which we covered earlier this week. The summer is fast approaching and we will doubtless hear more on this theme in the coming weeks.
