Sergio Aido has won his third PokerGO title after demolishing a field of 100 players in the PokerGO Cup Event #5: $10,100 No-Limit Hold ’em.
The Spaniard banked $255,000 for his efforts, taking home the lion’s share of the $1,000,000 prize pool.
This was the final $10,100 buy-in of the series with the top 15 players guaranteed at least $20,000.

Action Recap
Michael Moncek continued his hot form after winning the opening event, taking full advantage of his big stack when bubble time arrived. The short stacks were helpless against the well-timed aggression as Moncek sealed his place at the top of the standings for the final table stage.
Justin Sternberg just dipped out on a payday in 16th place with im Collopy (15th), Manuel Fritz (14th), Steve Zolotow (13th), Jeremy Becker (12th), Jeremy Ausmus (11th), Victoria Livschitz (10th), Brock Wilson (9th), Richard Green (8th), and Shaneil Stokes (7th), all missing out on a final table appearance.
Sergio Aido must have been feeling a little homesick as play resumed. Five Americans versus a single Spaniard.
Brandon Wilson was the first to fall after Aido’s king-jack ran well versus Wilson’s ace-eight to send him home with $50,000 plus 50 PGT points.
Nick Seward started the day as the shortest stack and was no doubt happy to see Wilson hit the rail first, but even a couple of doubles early on wasn’t enough when ace-king couldn’t come out on top against the king-six of Nick Schulman.
Nick Schulman quickly followed Seward to the rail, heading home in fourth place with $90,000 plus 90 PGT points.
With three players remaining, it was all to play for with similar stacks and it took a nasty cooler to set up the heads-up battle.
Michael Moncek thought he was doing nicely with a jack-high flush draw on a nine-eight-duece flop, but when the chips went in and the flush came on the river, it was Shannon Shorr who was the happy party after flipping over a king-high flush.

This key pot left Shorr with a three-to-one advantage as he squared off against Sergio Aido. The early going was all Shorr’s but ultimately the extreme aggression would prove to be his undoing.
The key hand saw Aido opening on the button for 275,000 and Shorr calling.
The flop ran out ace high with two hearts. Aido c-bet and Shorr check-raised to 500,000. Aido called.
The turn was a third heart and Shorr continued firing with a bet of 775,000. Aido called again.
The river was a brick and Shorr fired the third barrel with Aido snap-calling and flipping over K♥ Q♥. Shorr had a complete airball and was now at a two-to-one disadvantage.
A few hands later, Shorr’s aggression failed to work out again and Aido was crowned champion with Shorr heading to the exit, likely feeling a bit stunned about the sudden turnaround in fortunes.
