Chris Moneymaker Claims Mike Postle ACR allegations “10,000,000% false”

Chris Moneymaker has stepped up to refute allegations that Americas CardRoom pros were told not to publicly support infamous cheat Mike Postle. Moneymaker called the claims “comical” and “10,000,000 false”.

Postle was at the centre of arguably the biggest live cheating scandal of the century, perhaps ever, when he was suspected of using hidden technology during Stones Gambling Hall livestreamed cash games in 2019.

His biggest, almost only, supporter throughout a lengthy poker community-led investigation (and subsequent claims, counterclaims and lawsuits) was a former employer of Postle, Evert Caldwell.

Rounder Life magazine founder Caldwell previously swamped discussion of “Postlegate” (also known as “Crotchgate” for Postle’s constant staring at a phone in his crotch area) on social media with “unsubstantiated numbers”.

This week he took to Twitter with yet another claim of innocence on Postle’s part, alleging that ACR poker team members were deliberately silenced.

“Would you believe that team members at @ACR_POKER were forbidden from speaking out publicly in support of Mike Postle? They were allowed to criticize at the time because “cheating” was the consensus among outspoken top pros. Cancel culture had a lot to do with @POSTLEGATE.”

Caldwell added: “I can tell you that there is a large group of respected poker pros who have shifted from their initial belief that Mike Postle cheated.”

Though yet to name names, Caldwell continued: “Much of this change in perspective stemmed from the revelation that the data cited as 99.999% proof was bogus, along with the realization that RFID errors were rampant on the Stones livestream. Once you understand that he didn’t even have the actual hands it was showing in many instances, it’s eye-opening.”

Chris Moneymaker to the Defence

WSOP legend and Team ACR ambassador Chris Moneymaker was quick to jump in to defend ACR.

“This is 10000000% false. Phil [Nagy] nor ACR would ever forbid anyone on the team to speak their mind. Comical to even think otherwise.”

Caldwell bounced back claiming: “I was told it happened,” and added: “My source didn’t claim there was a memo circulated… but he has proof I’ll leave it at that.”

Moneymaker stated: “Well I can confirm with certainty ACR didn’t forbid anything.”

As with almost all of Evert’s claims over the past five years, however, he has so far posted nothing that can be independently fact-checked.

Bart Hanson Speaks Out

Bart Hanson, one of Postle’s most outspoken critics during the scandal and who Caldwell features in his tweet video, also responded to the spurious claims:

Postle’s winrates at the time were calculated at “off the scales” and way beyond the infamous Potripper scandal that brought down Absolute Poker.

The case was covered extensively in every poker media outlet, and on every podcast related to the game, including by Joey Ingram, Daniel Negreanu, Doug Polk, Matt Berkey and Bart Hanson, all of whom found it inconceivable that Postle wasn’t somehow cheating.

Multiple lawsuits followed over the course of two years from both Postle and his opponents, though nothing related to the actual cheating method was ever examined in court.
