The Czech player picked up a career best score for his efforts to go with his €151,600 from only four days before.

The PLO specialist was extremely pleased with himself for pulling off a great victory in a poker game where he is not favoured.

Speaking to reporters after his win, Jaros said:

“It’s unbelievable, I feel so good, two titles in one festival, I’m not sure its real right now. In the later stages of hold’em tournaments, I have a lot to learn. This was a fancy hand, I got lucky. I was trying to put pressure on everyone all the time, and this hand was a result of this, I was going for the win.

“I ‘ve worked hard to try to improve my hold’em game, my knowledge and my mindset recently, so to see it pay off is amazing. I’ll take a little break for Christmas.

“I have some high-stakes PLO tournaments in the New Year, and will be at every EPT for sure. I’ll try to work on my game some more, I feel as I’m getting older I’m getting better, so I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.”

Action Recap

From 212 entries and 77 re-entries, only 14 players remained in the field, each challenging for the biggest slices of the €2,803,300 prize pool.

Espen Jorstad was one notable player who only just missed out on a final table appearance, exiting in 11th place.

Artsiom Lasouski led the final nine with a massive stack of 92 big blinds, closely followed by Anton Wigg and Jaros in third place.

Play was slow to begin with. Everyone seemingly nervous about the considerable pay jumps.

Renji Mao broke the ice when his queens ran into Jaros’s ace and then the action got going.

Christian Pedersen almost lasted until the second break but then we saw another player get his queens all-in against a better hand; in this case Jaros had kings.

Down to seven, play resumed after the break with Jaros starring once again.

Anton Wigg opened to 125,000 from EP,  and faced a three-bet of 375,000 from Jaros on the button. The action folded back to Wigg, who ramped it up to 625,000.

Jaros pondered for a short while and decided it was time to ride the momentum which he had built.

Wigg flipped over K♣ K♠ and Jaros A♠ 8♠ and the pair waited for their fates to be decided.

The board came down A♦ 10♥ 6♦ J♣ 9♥ to give Jaros a commanding lead with only five opponents remaining.

This hand was the first in a chain of knockouts with Mariusz Golinsk leaving, Laszlo Molnar getting busted by Jaros with another inferior hand, and Vojtech Ruzicka losing with a better ace.

By the time of three-handed play, Jaros was still leading but only with a 25 big blind stack. Lebanon’s Nichan Khorchidian was running on fumes.

Jaros’s challenge hit a snag when he doubled up his closest rival, Lasouski, to almost eliminate his lead.

Another twist in the tale soon after when Khorchidian pulled a rabbit out of his hat to triple up!

Khorchidian jammed with A♠ 7♦ on the button and Lasouski called in the small blind. Jaros then squeeze-jammed over the pair of them with K♠ Q♠, forcing Lasouski to fold.

The board ran out 6♥ 5♥ 2♣ 10♦ 4♣ leaving Lasouski incredulous as he exclaimed that he folded pocket fives.

It got worse for the Belarusian minutes later when Jaros won a flip to take us to heads-up play.

This was no drawn out battle, however, because starting with a three-to-one advantage, Jaros didn’t miss an opportunity until it was all over when he rivered a straight to give him his second EPT title in only four days.
