The World Poker Tour has announced the continuation of its partnership with the One Drop Foundation, marking the return of the highly anticipated Big One for One Drop.

This iconic event aims to blend the thrill of high-stakes poker with the noble cause of providing access to safe and sustainable drinking water around the globe.

The upcoming Big One for One Drop is set to take place on November 22, 2024, at Resorts World Las Vegas, coinciding with the Formula 1 race weekend.

This $10,000 buy-in charity event will feature players from around the world who are eager to compete while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Background on the One Drop Foundation

Founded by keen poker player Guy Laliberté, the One Drop Foundation is dedicated to addressing the global water crisis.

The organisation focuses on creating sustainable solutions to ensure that communities have access to clean drinking water.

The Big One for One Drop tournament has a long history of having raised substantial funds for this vital mission in previous years, with a significant impact on communities in need.

Last year at the WPT World championship event, we saw the One Drop Foundation switch its allegiance from the WSOP to the World Poker Tour at Wynn Las Vegas.

We also saw the return of the massive $1,000,000 buy-in and Mikita Badziakouski crowned champion with a huge $7,114,500 prize after defeating Mario Mosbock.

This year’s event will have a buy-in of only $10,000 but it still boasts an impressive roster of participants. Guy Laliberté himself will be among those at the tables, alongside poker legend Antonio Esfandiari, who famously won the inaugural Big One for One Drop in 2012.

The event will also see notable figures from the racing world, including David Coulthard, Martin Brundle, and Alex Wurz, adding an exciting crossover element between poker and motorsports during the Formula One Grand Prix weekend.

Phil Hellmuth to “MC” the Event

Phil Hellmuth has signed up to serve as the emcee for this year’s event, continuing his long history of supporting charitable initiatives.

He said:

“So far, I have MC’d charity events raising over $75 million for many great charities. I look forward to raising more funds for worthy causes in November.”

The funds raised during this tournament will significantly contribute to the efforts of the One Drop Foundation.

Since its inception in 2012, collaborations between WPT and One Drop have successfully generated over $75 million for various water-related projects and this year’s event promises to continue that legacy.
