Michal Schuh and Dennis Weiss Take Down Latest WSOP Europe Events

Michal Schuh and Dennis Weiss have reeled in victory in the €550 Colossus and €5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, the two latest events to conclude at King’s Casino, Rozvadov.

Czechian player Schuh scooped the win at his home casino after seeing off a monster field of 2,799 entries. He banked a career best score of €171,350 to raise his total cashes up to $785,732.

Weiss made the short trip from his home country of Germany with less than three years of experience under his belt and banked a cool €159,897.

The inexperience didn’t stop him from obliterating his previous best cash of $15,296, with all the other nine being lower than $7,000.

Event #6: €5,000 Pot Limit Omaha attracted only 141 entries but this was a tough field, just as you’d expect in a €5,000 event.

Event #5: €550 NLHE Colossus Action Recap

We all heard that Schu picked up a career best prize yesterday, but what most didn’t realise is that he’s actually a retired professional who returned to the game in a recreational capacity.

It was also amazing to hear that runner-up Van Hulst took home €117,350 to more than 100x his career earnings!

By the time that play was three-handed, the action slowed down somewhat.

Schuh and Georgios Tsouloftas were passing the chip lead between each other for a while but then it all went wrong for the Cypriot when he bluffed off most of his chips.

Schuh now had a substantial lead and Dutchman Erik van Hulst picked up a timely double-up to leave Tsouloftas languishing with a short stack.

Poker can be fickle and soon the landscape changed once again with Tsouloftas doubling up twice to retake the lead. But this didn’t last for long before Schuh tabled a better flush against his rival to leave him with only 15 big blinds.

Tsouloftas took his chance against van Hulst with queen-eight only to find himself facing ace-0tne which triumphed and ended his run.

The heads-up was a back-and-forth affair until van Hulst had a bluff picked off to leave him only one hand away from elimination and seeing Schuh crowned a WSOP champion.

Dennis Weiss Reels in the €5,000 PLO Win 

There were 38 players remaining when Day 2 kicked off, and none of them had been cut adrift when the bell rang.

It took 90 minutes for the money bubble to burst and leave us with 15 potential champions, each guaranteed a min cash of €10,506.

Once the bubble had been passed, play noticeably sped up with the shorter stacks reverting to an aggressive strategy to give them the best shot at making the big payouts.

When the final table assembled, two Georgian players were the first to head to the exit. Vakhtang Javakhishvili and Vazha Kometiani. The former ran into pocket aces while the latter had his kings cracked by Nikola Minkov.

The action unfolded at a relentless pace and as the tournament approached the sharp end it was Romania’s Victor Dota who was denied a podium finish.

Nikola Minkov was in prime position to enter heads-up as a favourite when he got his pocket aces in pre-flop but Weiss turned trips to flip the script and give him a two-to-one advantage as heads-up play began.

Rather than biding his time, the German turned up the heat by multiple levels and extended his lead to eight-to-one in no time at all. Twenty minutes later, it was all over and Weiss achieved his dream of winning a WSOP bracelet.
