Two bullets at $250k apiece wasn’t enough get Daniel Negreanu into a share of the money as poker’s big boys battled it out in Vegas last night. Phil Ivey, however, comes back today with a shot at the $5million+ first prize.
Event #55: $250,000 Super High Roller No-Limit Hold’em
It’s been a lean 2024 at the World Series so far for DNegs and yesterday was no exception as he bust in 18th spot on his second bullet, short of the 12 paid spots…
Daniel Negreanu: J♥ J♠
Seth Gottlieb: A♥ 10♥
Flop: 8♥ Q♠ 3♥
Turn: 5♥
River: 3♦
Phil Ivey did rather better, sitting in 10th out of the 14 remaining players, but it will be a nervous bubble with more than $500,000 on the line for a min. cash. Up top, the number is more than 10x that sum, $5,415,152 going to the winner.

Event #52: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em (6-Handed)
There was plenty of drama at the final table of the $5k NLH 6-handed event, Germany’s Max Kruse and Matthew McEwan suffering in a three-way all-in reminiscent of yesterday’s big SHR showdown.
Max Kruse: 4♦ 4♥
Krasimir Yankov: A♠ A♥
Matthew McEwan: Q♦ Q♥
The flop was the ridiculous…
Flop: A♦ 4♣ Q♠
Turn: K♥
River: J♦
Former pro footballer turned poker pro Kruse was out in 7th and McEwan on fumes following him in 6th spot. Australia’s Mostafa Haidary leads the way for the surviving quartet returning today to play for gold.

Event #57: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em (8-Handed)
Scotland’s Ludovic Geilich has a tough hill to climb today when he returns as the shortest stack for the final table, but he did have the added satisfaction of ending defending champion Phil Hellmuth’s hunt for a 19th bracelet yesterday.
Rodriguez was all-in preflop…
Noel Rodriguez: J♦ 10♥
Phil Hellmuth: Q♣ 5♣
Ludovic Geilich: 8♦ 10♦
…and Hellmuth and Geilich’s chips were added on the flop….
Flop: 6♦ Q♦ A♣
Turn: 7♣
River: 2♦
That rivered flush sent Hellmuth crashing, his “Poker Brat” persona appearing once again with a typical rant: “The same f*****g guy from Scotland every time. F*****g idiot… 10-high, what the f**k?”
