The bracelet hunt continued yesterday at the WSOP in Vegas, but it wasn’t to be gold for either Daniel Negreanu or Phil Ivey, the famous duo running deep but coming up short. Meanwhile, Simeon Spasov grabbed his second gold bracelet.
We’ll get to the game’s legends in a moment, but first up we had a gold bracelet celebration, and it was a second for Bulgarian Simeon Spasov…
Event #12: $1,500 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em
Spasov was among the 17 players who made it through to the final day from 2,526 entries, all seeking as big a chunk as possible of the $3,372,210 prizepool.
In 2022 Spasov took down a $2k NLHE bracelet event, seeing off Michael “Sir Watts” Watson heads-up. That final table was “much harder” Spasov explained, after ousting John Henry Gordon for his second WSOP title. The final hand played out as follows:
Gordon: A♠ 7♣
Spasov: 8♥ 6♥
With Gordon the pre-flop aggressor in the big blind, he continued on the flop of…
Flop: A♥ 10♣ J♥
… but when a third heart appeared, his check raise jam was instacalled…
Turn: 10♥
River: 3♦
That river brick was enough to give Spasov the title and sparked instant celebrations with his rail…

Event #13: $10,000 Dealer’s Choice Championship
This is one of the most coveted $10k Championship titles and you could tell from the field that poker’s greatest players all wanted it badly.
As we reported yesterday, Daniel Negreanu saw off Phil Hellmuth but a day later he had another Phil at table, this time the incomparable Phil Ivey. And the pair seemed in great mood as they posed for the cameras…
Ivey fell first from the 11 who returned for day 3, and then he was followed to the rail by Negreanu in 10th spot, Stud Hi-Lo hands accounting for both of them.
By the time 1am came around, three weary men were still battling away, at times even involving the crowd in the decision over which poker variant to play next. They will return today with $144,431 sewn up and the bracelet and $333,045 up top.
