If you thought the only big money to be won in poker is in Vegas right now, think again! Last night saw three players hit 7-figure payouts on GGPoker at the Super High Roller Million$ final table, with Dejan Kaladjurdjevic taking down the $1,688,889 top prize!
The combination of it being the GGPoker World Festival Main Event and the general buzz of a summer of poker meant that entries were through the roof.
$10million guarantee smashed
838 players and 364 rebuys boosted the prizepool to a staggering $12,020,000, smashing the $10million guarantee, with a final table spot worth your average SHR winner’s prize.
Of the nine who made it that far, five were flying the Austrian flag, Daniel Smiljkovic, Marius Gierse, Leonard Maue, and thee anonymous duo of “xxkfiss” and “idkthp”.
Players from Finland, Belarus, Ireland and Montenegro rounded out the final table, which got off to a flying start when “idkthp” picked up aces against Maue’s queens.
Despite the latter hitting a set, “idkthp” got a river bet through on a four-club board with neither player holding a club!
That set the scene for a drama-packed finale, set over set all but ending Andreas Nasman’s hopes of a high finish…
Nasman: 8♥ 8♣
Kaladjurdjevic: Q♣ Q♠
Flop: 8♦ Q♥ 5♦
Turn: 5♥
River: 7♣
Ilya Anatski’s tournament ended when he ran AK into queens, a turned full house sending him to the rail in 7th spot, but big slick got its own back when Kaladjurdjevic flopped an ace to send Maue packing in 6th place.
The payouts were now at over $500k and the commentary duo of Jeff Gross and special guest Jonathan Jaffe kept the viewers not only entertained but also educated on the GGPoker YouTube channel.
Jaffe explained Kaladjurdjevic’s 4-bet shove with 5s from the big blind against xxkfiss’s cut-off open and the Montenegrin held against the nut flush flop.
Next to fall would miss out on the GTD $1million+ payday and it was Daniel Smiljkovic losing out, his AJ unable to catch Kaladjurdjevic’s pocket jacks.
There was no stopping Montenegro’s #1 online and live player, big slick ending the Austrian title challenge when idkthp shoved a dominated QK.
Heads-up for the win
That left only Ireland’s “Mikster” aka Michael Dwyer standing between Kaladjurdjevic and an impressive victory.
What a performance by @MichaelDwyer64 last night – this hero-call just one of many great plays by him on his way to a 7-figure payday.

Great analysis too by future guest on @thechiprace, Jonathan Jaffe. pic.twitter.com/19AKaiZeCo
Dwyer fought hard, and as the tweet above shows had plenty of support, but the entrepreneur-cum-poker fanatic couldn’t overcome his chip deficit and eventually found himself all-in and at risk…
Mikster: 7♦ 3♦
Kaladjurdjevic: K♦ K♥
Flop: 9♦ 8♥ 2♣
Turn: 10♣
River: A♣
That was enough for Dejan Kaladjurdjevic to bag the trophy and his second huge GGPoker Million$ scoop of the year.
