Nik Airball has finally revealed where his hefty bankroll came from during an interview on 888Poker.
The Hustler Casino Live reg has long teased the poker community about his apparently big fortune of a bankroll and now the answer is out.
Sadly, it’s nothing exciting if he’s telling the truth, but we think he is.
Nik Airball Says He Made His Own Bankroll
After Airball jumped into the car with Tuck, the interview started off casual enough with the pair breaking the ice about his beginnings in poker.
But then Tuck couldn’t wait any longer, even after admitting that it was none of his business.
”Where did you get your money from?”, asked Tuck.
The answer has been hinted at a few times before but Airball’s face indicated that it really is the truth.
“I made some money in poker, made some money working, made some money in investments. Kind of all over the place.”
Now, remember that Airball has taken more flak in recent times than Dan Bilzerian for supposedly being a trust fund beneficiary but he says that isn’t true.
He also put to bed the rumour that the money comes from his wife’s parents. Apparently, her father is a fireman and mother a school teacher.
Respectable professionals for sure, but not of the type that would be loaning seven-figure sums to their son-in-law.
Tuck brought up a previous conversation where Airball actually told him he was the beneficiary of a trust fund, but he said it should have been obvious it was a troll.
Nik Airball the Polarising Figure
The interview shifted around to how much of a polarising figure Nik Airball is in the poker community.
This is certainly true but Airball makes it clear that getting invites into these live-stream games comes with a responsibility to be entertaining.
Tucks asks about the recent fallout over Airball’s fallout with Mariano on Hustler Casino Live when he tanked with pocket kings pre-flop.
Airball points out that there is always missing context with banter on live-streams. The audience doesn’t always know what the background is or if there is a personal relationship between any of the players.
And what do his parents think about his on-screen exploits?
Nik Airball’s father is a keen poker player, one who actually played in the WSOP Main Event some years ago during the poker boom.
So he should know a little something about how variance works at the poker table. But that said, it’s understandable when Airball reveals that the insane sums that he plays for causes some anxiety to his parents.
He says they don’t care about the results in general because they know he’s successful and because of that they’re supportive. It’s really the big swings that they don’t like to see, especially when it’s live on a show.
