GGPoker’s newest brand ambassador Alexandra Botez has issued a $50,000 Elo challenge to her fellow chess content creators.
The Canadian Twitch star threw down the gauntlet to her chess rivals, offering the chance to join her in the month-long Spin & Gold ELO Challenge.
The fast-play format competition aims to bring a concrete system to measure poker skill in a way we can all understand.
Chess has long had a rating system which was famously concocted by Hungarian physics professor Arpad Elo.
Now, GGPoker is giving fans of the Sit & Go variant a way to see who is really the best.

The Elo rating system is simple to follow: as wins or good finishes are racked up, the rating increases with different grades given, as follows.
Rank | Rating |
Grandmaster | Top 100 |
Master | 5000 |
A | 4,000 |
B | 3000 |
C | 2,000 |
D | 1,500 |
E | 1,200 |
Whoever has the top rating at the end of the Spin & Gold ELO Challenge will win a $50,000 prize.
Alexandra Botez was beaming about her new partnership with the biggest online poker site:
“One of the reasons I am so excited to join GGPoker is being able to share my newfound love of poker with my fellow chess players from across the globe.
The traits and skills that make good chess players translate so well into poker that I am sure this will be an incredibly close and exciting competition. I suspect many chess names will move up the poker ranks over the next few years!”
So far we have seen plenty of chess content creators confirming that they will participate in the Spin & Gold ELO Challenge.
The “Chessbrahs” Eric Hansen and Aman Hambleton both enjoy poker and are looking forward to a little cross-discipline challenge.
Top chess grandmaster Jan Gustaffson is more well-known for his chess commentary these days but he is a long-time poker player, even once co-writing a poker book with Marcel Lüske.
Popular YouTuber and Twitch streamer Dina Belenkya holds a Woman Chess Grandmaster title but is friends with the Botez sisters and no doubt versed in poker to some degree.
Spin & Gold on GGPoker
GGPoker’s Spin & Gold format is a fast-paced and exciting Sit & Go game with either three or six players.
Players can register for a game for as little as 25 cents but here’s the surprise: the prize pool is decided by a random multiplier which can generate as much as 100,000 times the combined buy-ins.
And for the more competitive among you, you can now have a rating that shows just how you compare to your opponents.
