GGPoker has launched a new variant of poker satellites called Target Stack Satellites. The leading online poker platform is once again at the forefront of innovative new trends.
Target Stack Satellites offer an interesting new take on the traditional format. Before, all players had to do was outlast their rivals to collect an entry into a bigger tournament.
Now, the dynamics are different. Rather than being forced into a permanently tight strategy, players must battle to build up a chip stack of a predetermined size.
This makes the game much more dynamic with a faster pace.
Usually, players must accumulate around ten times the amount of starting chips. When this target is met, the stack is removed from the tournament and the player claims their prize.
This process continues until all available seats are claimed, ensuring a more equitable distribution of tickets among participants.
The Target Stack Satellites encourage a more proactive and calculated approach to gameplay, where risk management and timing become crucial elements of success.
Players must navigate the delicate balance between aggression to build their stack and caution to avoid unnecessary risks that could jeopardize their chances of reaching the target.
GGPoker adopted the new format on March 29, 2024, as part of a regular software update.
A few people have asked me about Target stack satellite content given the lives ones this week @IrishPokerOpen are this format.
Barry and I added a chapter to our book on the adjustments, and we made a video covering them in detail (reduced to half price this week)…

Another bonus from this new format is that once players have reached their target, they can exit the event and move onto other tables.
The traditional format requires players to continue playing until the tournament ends, taking up much extra time for the players.
In an age where people want instant gratification and despise being held up, Target Stack Satellites are just what the doctor ordered!
They’re proving to be so popular already that the 2024 World Series of Poker is planning to debut the format in Las Vegas this summer.
The World Poker Tour has already tried it during the successful WPT World Championship event and the response couldn’t have been more popular.
