Anthony Zinno Denies Backpack Theft Allegations

Anthony Zinno has taken to Twitter to make a firm denial that he is guilty of stealing $20,000 from a backpack at the 2023 WPT World Championship in Las Vegas.

The high stakes reg has been castigated over the last week after it came to light that he picked up an opponent’s bag at the end of play during an event.

He was then seen running to the bathroom with the bag before leaving the property with it, rather than handing it in to security.

Anthony Zinno now claims that his plan was to assume responsibility for the bag while trying to find ID or verify ownership by other means.

After being unable to do this, Zinno brought the bag back to the casino and handed it to the people whose job it is to actually return property to the rightful owner.

By now, there was only $1,000 in the bag, and not the $20,000 that is alleged to have been there.

Does Anthony Zinno’s Excuse Make Sense?

Anthony Zinno appears to have many friends in the poker community, many who have stepped forward to speak up for his character.

Now though, there are many who know him well who are struggling to believe his version of events.

Shaun Deeb started a conversation where most agreed that it makes the most sense to just hand the bag over to security. Why would you take a bag home without knowing who the owner is, expecting to be able to track them down?

One poster who claims to be a lawyer said what many have been thinking:

This is an attorney. He has sufficient reasoning skills to know proper procedures. Not only did he not follow proper procedures, he took the bag to a bathroom. Why? One can reasonably conclude that he wanted to hide his true intentions.”
