A 27 meter luxury yacht owned by professional poker player Diego Gomez Gonzalez aka The Lion has gone up in flames in front of Formentera.

Five crew and 12 passengers were onboard the Italian-designed cruiser but only one person was said to require medical treatment, a 39-year-old Spaniard.
The fire turned the yacht into a floating fireball that was visible from Ibiza in a matter of minutes.
The Balearic island Formentera is a neighbour to Ibiza and has been graced by the presence of Leonardo DiCaprio in recent days as the party season peaks during August.
It is not yet known if The Lion was onboard or if the guests were chartering the yacht, or simply his friends.
The 88ft cruiser, named Irmao, is available for charter during the summer months for €53,000 and €45,000.
Built in 1995, it features a jacuzzi on the top deck and provides access to various watersports equipment. It sleeps 12 in VIP cabins and provides quarters for five crew.
Who Is Diego “The Lion” Gomez Gonzales?
Diego Gomez Gonzalez is better known under his nick name The Lion after turning up to the 2012 EPT Prague Main Event final table dressed as a lion in a full bodysuit.
He has $492,532 in live tournament winnings, according to the Hendon Mob website.
The 34-year-old Spaniard is said to have learned poker playing with friends and family during his school years. He then moved into the online game but little to nothing is known about his results.
We can assume that if the Irmao really does belong to Gonzalez then either his online tournament results are phenomenal, or he plays cash games and we have no idea how much he has made.
He cashed five times in World Series of Poker (WSOP) online bracelet events during 2020 but hasn’t registered any live cashes since 2021.
That said, he just might have done well in business, but his live tournament results are not enough to be buying 88ft luxury yachts. Who knows…
